CAT success at MAT
Has CAT success been eluding you? Don’t give up yet. You can still take the Management Aptitude Test and get closer to your corporate dreams. AFTER THE initial glitches encountered during the first phase of the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management ( IIMs) last year, all eyes are now set on entrance exams that include computer- based tests (CBTs). But if the number of aspirants for the Management Aptitude Test ( MAT), another entry point to the top B- schools of the country, is anything to go by, CBTs are increasingly finding more takers.
The number of candidates opting for CBT mode in MAT has increased over the three administrations — September 2009, December 2009 and February 2010, director general of the All India Management Association ( AIMA) that organises MAT. “ It doubled in February this year compared to the tests administered last year.” Among the national- level MBA admission tests, MAT was the first to offer CBT mode to the candidates, as early as September last year. “ MAT offered the option of choosing the mode of test to the candidates so that the technology divide among the population does not in any way affect the test performance. We have so far successfully administered the MAT in the CBT mode in the last three exams,”.
The AIMA conducts MAT four times a year — on the first Sundays of February, May, September and December for selection to over 172 MBA schools in the country. Candidates can choose any one of the two options to take the test: Paper- Based Test or CBT. While the former will be held on May 2, the latter will be undertaken May 8 onwards, in different time slots at specific test venues subject to number of candidates registering for the CBT
