The Advantages of Using Social Networking For Education

Social networking has become very fashionable in the present years as sites like orkut and Facebook have become favorites worldwide. However, if it is used to be just a place where teenagers meet, things have changed now. But we can use networking sites as a communicating media for students, teachers and researcher scholars.

The studies  found that, 80 percent Indian students using  Internet, on that 60 percent students go online and 50 percent had a profile on a social networking site. So Social Networking sites can help these students in academic activities. Students are developing a positive approach towards using technology systems, and using internet as a companion to solve their problems in India E-learning and online education are common  , universities and institution put up with these facilities . Users can  share creative  works and interact  with other about their works. The Web sites offer great educational potential." while proving that social networking sites offer more than just social fulfillment or professional networking, also have implications. For educators, who now have a vast opening to support what students are learning on the Web sites. DSPACE is common sites with huge bulk of data for students. The teacher can put there lecture notes and assignment in these sites and student can easily download and use it. So that if a student miss any one of his lecture class ,he get the notes. The student get the idea of other professors that they did not teach.
