Managing Your Wealth With A Private Banking

High net worth individuals are a much sought after and courted breed of being. It is no wonder as the management of their portfolio could be very lucrative for the institution as well as very prestigious

Private Banking is a service that has been around for almost as long as there have been banks. People with a great deal of wealth want to ensure that it is managed well, invested wisely, that no more tax than absolutely has to be paid is declared and that the assets grow in value. In addition they need to be secure in the knowledge that the investments are safe and that what moves they make or positions they take are not discussed with the whole world (unless they are Warren Buffet or Donald Trump. All of this takes time, professionalism, proper analysis of the growth opportunities and a strict adherence to the agreed objectives of the portfolio concerned.

The elements to a successful private bank are manifold. There are a number of elements. The first and most critical has to be discretion. Privacy and confidentiality are paramount to the high net worth individual and often the use of an off shore private bank is part of that individuals\' way of minimizing their tax burden. One of the reasons that off shore banks are favoured is because the individual concerned has no residence or tax liability in that country. Private banks when managing that portfolio are obliged to comply with the law of the land they are registered in.

There are however a lot of measure in place with most private banks to regulate money laundering and the acceptance of so called narkodollars. Switzerland used to be totally secret but some laws have changed thus allowing some of the Private banks in other places to compete.

Just such a place is Jersey in the Channel islands. Jersey and the other Channel islands as well as the Isle of Man in the Irish sea enjoy the status of being self governing states while being British Crown Dependencies and thus are NOT part of the UK. But they have very good financial services and the regulations are fair and just.

The next thing a HNWI requires is security in the banking institution he chooses. This is critical as his fortune needs to be secure and he must have the knowledge that he can get it when he requires. Finding a secure bank, with a large asset base, in the Channel Islands is therefore a happy choice.

The Santander private bank is quite large as private banks go, employing over 2,000 qualified professional bankers with a back up team of researchers, the Private Bank has branches in many places, not only Jersey.

The Santander group has a strong profit record and is well represented in Europe. They have many products with which to service the needs of their clients and a very strong and secure back up in that they are part of one of the larger Banking Groups in Europe.
